- How do you define wisdom? Who do you consider wise in your own life? Is Jim wise? If so, in what way?
- How are Jim and Huck’s situations similar? Provide examples.
- Why do you think Huck is hesitant to even consider Jim’s values and ideas as valuable/plausible? What tends to make you hesitant to consider others’ beliefs and ideas?
- Many of the adults in Huck’s life are trying to “sivilize” him. How would you describe a civilized person? Do you believe that Jim offers Huck a good example of how to conduct oneself in a civilized manner?
